The Hope College women's tennis team capped a successful opening weekend with an 8-1 victory against NCAA Division II Davenport University on Saturday at DeWitt Tennis Center.
The Flying Dutch are 2-0 on the season after also defeated Cornerstone University, 6-3, on Friday at home.
Hope swept singles play.
At No. 1 singles, junior Sydney Jackson (Fort Wayne, Indiana/Carroll HS), pictured, topped Willimien Coetzee, 6-4, 6-7 (2), 10-7.
At No. 2, senior Leah Newhof of Caledonia, Michigan (Grand Rapids Christian) rallied for a 3-6, 6-1, 10-8 victory against Isabella Carofano.
At No. 3 singles, senior Bailey Chorney of Waunakee, Wisconsin (Waunakee) outlasted Danica Malan for a 7-5, 3-6, 10-3 victory.
At No. 4 singles, junior Saydee Johns of Holland, Michigan (Holland) downed Sophie Jackson, 6-1, 6-1.
At No. 5 singles, freshman Annika Weeber of Rockford, Michigan (Grand Rapids Christian) served up a 6-4, 6-2 win against Kailyn Skogmo.
At No. 6 singles, sophomore Delanie Riebschleger of Rockford, Michigan (Rockford) beat Taryn Orr, 6-2, 6-0.
In doubles, Hope claimed points in two flights.
At No. 1 doubles, Newhof and Sydney Jackson paired for an 8-6 victory against Coetzee and Sophie Jackson.
At No. 3 doubles, sophomore Taylor Truman (Hudsonville, Michigan/Hudsonville HS) teamed with Johns for an 8-0 victory against Skogmo and Orr.
The Flying Dutch's next match is Saturday, February 20 against North Central College (Illinois) at DeWitt Tennis Center at 12 p.m.
