Men's Golf Takes Third Place at Trine Invitational

Tim Wageman poses for a portrait Playing in rain for the last six holes at the Trine Invitational at Zollner Golf Course, the Hope College men's golf team posted a 298 to claim third place on Saturday.

Calvin University won the event with a 209 while Trine was second by shooting 293.

This event did not count as an MIAA Jamboree for season standings because all conference teams did not participate due to MIAA COVID protocols.

Hope was led by Will Robson of Grand Rapids, Mich. (East Grand Rapids) who carded a two-over par 73, tying for sixth place inviducally. The freshman also leads the Flying Dutchmen in scoring average with 74.0 strokes after five rounds. 

Tim Wageman, pictured, was Hope's next lowest golfer with a round of 74, his collegiate best round and good for an eighth-place tie. The sophomore from Chesterfield, Mich. (Saline) has a five-round scoring average of 77.4.

Coming in with a round of 75 was freshman Brian Marx of Bloomfield Hills, Mich. (Bloomfield) who owns a 76.5 average.

Rounding out scores for the Flying Dutchmen were sophomore Jack Crawford of Carmel, Ind. (Carmel) and sophomore Seth Almquist of Minneapolis, Minn. (Wayzata) who each shot rounds of 76. Crawford has Hope's second-best scoring average at 75.8 strokes while Almquist averages 77.4.

Hope gets one day off and is back in action on Monday, April 12 at the sixth MIAA Jamboree hosted by Calvin University. Tee time is 1 p.m.
