The Hope College ice hockey team is skating into the American Collegiate Hockey Association Division 3 national semifinals after a 5-1 victory against Adrian College on Saturday at Patterson Ice Arena in Grand Rapids.
The top-ranked Flying Dutchmen (11-2-1 overall) concluded pool play with a 3-0 record.
Hope will face the University of Michigan's ACHA team on Monday, April 19 at 7:30 p.m. at Patterson Ice Arena. The winner advances to the national championship game on Tuesday, April 20 to face either Missouri State or Arkansas.
On Friday, goalie Lukas Schut stopped 29 shots for the Flying Dutchmen. He held Adrian scoreless over the final 58 minutes of the game.
Lucas Barber snapped a 1-1 tie by scoring 3 minutes, 15 seconds into the second period. Kevin Healy recorded the first of his two assists.
Five different goal scorers contributed for Hope. Jake Adams, Brad Baysore, Brendan Sanders, and Mason Weiss also scored.
Barber, Baysore, and Weiss also were credited with assists.
