The Hope College women's tennis team shut out Olivet College on Friday at the Heeringa-VandePoel Stadium Courts, 9-0.
It is the third league victory against zero losses for the Flying Dutch who also own a 6-2 overall record.
In singles, Hope did not drop a set to the Comets.
At No. 1 singles, junior Sydney Jackson of Fort Wayne, Indiana (Carroll) defeated Olivet's Desiree Luque Pradas, 6-2, 7-5.
At No. 2 singles, senior Leah Newhof of Caledonia, Michigan (Grand Rapids Christian) topped Olivet's Emily Foulk, 6-0, 6-0.
At No. 3 singles, freshman Angela Burke of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian), pictured, posted a 6-0, 6-2 victory against Olivet's Makenzie Borg.
At No. 4 singles, sophomore Sophia Stamatopoulos of Wheaton, Illinois (Wheaton-Warrenville South) won against Olivet's Ally Seaars, 6-2, 7-5.
At No. 5 singles, junior Mackenzie Rhode of Frankfort, Illinois (Lincoln-Way East) downed Olivet's Kiandra Marciniak, 6-0, 6-0.
Hope won at No. 6 singles by default.
In doubles play, the No. 1 pair of Jackson and Newhof and the No. 2 pair of DeVries/Chorney each won with 8-0 scores over Luque Pradas/Borg and Foulk/Sears, respectively. Hope won at No.3 doubles by default.
The Flying Dutch were originally scheduled to play the University of Chicago on Saturday, April 10 but that match is postponed until Friday, April 30 due to impending inclement weather in Chicago.
Hope plays next on Wednesday, April 14 at home against Alma College. Match time is 4 p.m.
