Jessie Schamanek finished 29th out of 172 runners to lead the Hope College women's cross country team at the Lansing Community College Invitational on Friday.
The sophomore, pictured, from Rochester Hills, Michigan (Stoney Creek HS) clocked a 5K time of 20 minutes, 40.5 seconds at Grand Woods Park.
The Flying Dutch placed sixth out of 19 teams with 197 points. NCAA Division I Oakland University won with 36 points.
Senior Hannah Gray of Winfield, Illinois (Wheaton North) recorded a 40th-place time of 21:02.3.
Junior Cate Peerbolte of Highland, Indiana (Illiana Christian) clocked a 50th-place time of 21:21.9.
Senior Elizabeth Stevens of Twin Lake, Michigan (Whitehall) posted a 54th-place run of 21:30.2.
Junior Emily Unger of Montague, Michigan (Montague) rounded out Hope's scoring with a 63rd-place time of 21:43.3.
The Flying Dutch's top seven efforts also included freshman Audrey White of Norton Shores, Michigan (Mona Shores) in 77th at 22:10.0 and freshman Lilly Copeland of Fowlerville, Michigan (Fowlerville) in 78th at 22:10.5.
Hope's next meet is the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 9:30 a.m. at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
