The Hope College men's golf team maintained its first-day standing and finished in fourth place at the conclusion of the Irish Hills Invitational hosted by Adrian College on Saturday.
On Friday, the Flying Dutchmen posted a team total of 301 at the par-71 Lenawee Country Club which put them in fourth place after day one in the 10-team event. Their Saturday round of 303 kept them there with a two-day total of 604.
Kenyon College (Ohio) won the invite with a 587.
Jack Guerrera led Hope with rounds of 71 and 75. The freshman from Northville, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central took fourth place individually.
Sophomore Logan DeWitt (Zeeland, Michigan/Holland Christian), pictured, was the next lowest Flying Dutchman with rounds of 74-73, tying him for fifth place.
He was followed by junior Seth Almquist (Minneapolis, Minnesota/ Wayzata) who carded rounds of a 77-78 for 20th place; freshman Ben Jackson (Fort Wayne, Indiana/Carroll) who shot 80-77 and tied for 25th place; and freshman Will Webb (Lake Forest, Illinois/Lake Forest) who recorded rounds of 79-80, good for a 30th-palce tie.
There were 53 players in the two-day invitational.
The Flying Dutchmen return to MIAA play with the league's second Jamboree at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall, Michigan. The round, hosted by Olivet College, begins at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
