Hope College's Evan Thomas has been chosen as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week.
The junior biology major from Okemos, Michigan (Okemos HS) claimed the honor for the third time this season and his career.
Thomas averaged 21.0 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.0 assist, and 1.0 steals per game while leading the Flying Dutchmen to a 2-1 record last week that included victories against preseason favorite Trine University at home and at Calvin University.
On January 10, Thomas recorded a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds during a 61-48 victory vs. Trine on January 10.
On Wednesday, Thomas scored a game-high 25 points to go along with eight rebounds during a 78-65 victory at Calvin on Wednesday.
On Saturday, Thomas finished with a team-high 23 points and eight rebounds during a 75-68 loss to Albion College.
For the week, Thomas shot 91.7 percent from the foul line (22-of-24) and 43.2 percent from the field (19-44).
