The top-ranked and unbeaten Hope College ice hockey team skated to 8-3 and 6-4 victories against No. 2-ranked Grand Valley State University this weekend in American Collegiate Hockey Association play.
The Flying Dutchmen are now 21-0 on the season.
On Saturday, Mason Weiss and Brad Baysore propelled Hope to a 6-4 road victory by snapping a 4-4 tie with third-period goals at Griff's IceHouse Georgetown. Weiss and Gabe Gunneson assisted on Baysore's empty-netter. for the Flying Dutchmen.
Kevin Healy topped Hope with two goals. Healy leads the Flying Dutchmen with 18 goals this season.
Goalie Lukas Schut made 30 saves.
On Friday, Hope seized control for an 8-3 victory by jumping to a 5-1 lead during the first period.
Max Mones registered a hat trick, including two goals in a 43-second span for a 2-0 lead early 5:44 in the first period.
Baysore chipped in two goals.
Schut recorded 25 saves.
Hope returns to the ice on Friday-Saturday, Jan. 28-29 with a home-and-home series against Ferris State University.
The Flying Dutchmen host Ferris State on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Griff's IceHouse West.
