Senior Emma Schaefer had three first-place finishes for the Hope College women's swimming and diving team on Saturday as the Flying Dutch topped Albion College, 188-110, at the Holland Aquatic Center.
Schaefer (DeWitt/Saint Johns) won in the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.90), the 500-yard freestyle (5:20.94), and the 200-yard IM (2:11.47).
The Flying Dutch also claimed the top three finishes in two events.
In the 1650-yard freestyle, freshman Norah Martin (Middleton, Wisconsin/Middleton) came in at 17:42.66; freshman Katie Weedon (Grosse Pointe Shores/Grosse Pointe North) at 18:28.09; and senior Paige Kuhn (Dorr/Hamilton) at 19:04.75.
In the 100-yard backstroke, Delaney Wesolek (Bay City/John Glenn) touched in at 1:00.77; sophomore Rachel Gamm (Rockford/Rockford) at 1:00.85; and freshman Lauren Ryle (Grand Rapids/Catholic Central) at 1:02.86.
The Flying Dutch had five more first-place finishes contributing to their winning total. They were:

The 400-yard medley relay of freshman Sara Kraus (Rockford/Rockford), Schaefer, junior Alyssa Kerkman (South Bend, Indiana/Saint Joseph), and Wesolek, finishing in 3:56.40;

Wesolek in the 200-yard backstroke, touching in at 2:12.63;

The 200-yard freestyle relay of Ryle, Kraus, sophomore Madeline Tessin (Waxhaw, North Carolina/Marvin Ridge), and Wesolek, clocking in a time of 1:38.06; and

Freshman Abby Koops (Grand Rapids/Forest Hills Northern) in both the 1-meter (259.95) and 3-meter (247.85) dives.
Hope's next meet is at Kalamazoo College on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 1 p.m.
