Volleyball Ranks Sixth in AVCA's Final 2022 Poll

The Hope College volleyball team is ranked sixth in the final American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll for the 2022 season.

Led by head coach Becky Schmidt, the Flying Dutch moved up 14 spots after advancing to the national quarterfinals and finishing with a 24-8 overall record.

It is Hope's highest finish in the AVCA rankings since winning the national championship in 2014.

The Flying Dutch lost in the national quarterfinals to eventual Division III champion Juniata College (Pa.) in four sets.

Hope reached the national quarterfinals for the fourth time in team history.

The Flying Dutch defeated three Top-10 ranked teams during the Grand Rapids, Michigan, Regional: No. 9 Wittenberg University (Ohio) in the quarterfinals, No. 10 Washington University in St. Louis in the semifinals, and No. 3 Calvin University in the final.

After Juniata, national runner-up Trinity University (Texas) finished second. The rest of the top five featured No. 3 University of Northwestern-St. Paul, No. 4 New York University and No. 5 Claremont Mudd Scripps.
