Ana Tucker Crushes Her Own Indoor 5,000-Meter School Record

The senior clocked the Flying Dutch's fastest time during the GVSU Holiday Open on Friday.

Hope College senior Ana Tucker bettered her own school record in the indoor 5,000 meters on Friday at the Grand Valley State University Holiday Open.

The exercise science major from Midland, Michigan (H.H. Dow HS) clocked a converted time of 16 minutes, 36.96 seconds.

Tucker crushed her 2022 Flying Dutch record of 17:05.20.

In the event's fastest heat, Tucker finished only six seconds behind event winner Makayla Perez of Western Michigan University and three seconds behind runner-up Kylie Anicic of Edinboro University (Pa.).

Senior Anna Mason (Zeeland, Michigan / Libertas Christian) took eighth in her 5,000-meter time with a time of 18:20.30.

In the 4x400 relay, freshman Frances Cozzens of Lynam, New Hampshire (Saint Johnsbury Academy), junior Erin Moran of Arlington Heights, Illinois (John Hersey), senior Samantha Schermerhorn of Traverse City, Michigan (T.C. West), and freshman Hannah Tsiang (Brighton, Michigan / Brighton) clocked a time of 4:15.51 for 12th place.

In the high jump, junior Allison Schram of Fenton, Michigan (Hartland) cleared 1.55 meters (5 feet, 1 inch) for 13th place.

In the 1 mile run, freshman Madison Stern of Saline, Michigan (Saline) posted a time of 5:17.21 for 16th place.

Hope's next meet is Friday, Jan. 20, at the Aquinas College John Flaminio Open.
