In her first 800-meter race of the indoor season, Heleyna Tucker clocked a second-place effort for the Hope College women's track and field team on Friday at Aquinas College.
The senior from Midland, Michigan (H.H. Dow HS) recorded a time of 2 minutes, 29.61 seconds. Teammate Erin Moran was fourth at 2:31.90.
Tucker helped the split-squad Flying Dutch to a third-place total of 70.50 points. The event featured select teams from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association and the NAIA's Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.
Hope also posted runner-up efforts in the 3,000 meters and the shot put.
Sophomore Olivia Quillan (Grandville, Michigan / Calvin Christian) led a 2-3-4 Flying Dutch finish in the 3,000 meters with a run of 11:09.80. Freshman Jane DeGroot (Northville, Michigan / Northville) placed third at 11:15.44, whie Maddy Struck (Hainesville, Illinois / Grayslake Central) was fourth at 11:30.80.
Freshman Greta Robrahn (Zeeland, Michigan / Zeeland East) finished second in the shot put with a heave of 11.98 meters (39-3 3/4).
Sophomore Taylor Novotny (Batavia, Illinois / Batavia) recorded a fourth-place triple jump of 10.25 meters (33-7 1/2). Junior Kyria Gowman (Livonia, Michigan / Adlai Stevenson) placed sixth at 9.05 meters (29-8 1/4). Freshman Allison Schram (Fenton, Michigan / Hartland) was eighth at 9.05 meters (29-8 ¼).
Novotny also finished seventh in the long jump at 4.45 meters (14-7 ¼). Freshman Lily Kueber (Northville, Michigan / St. Catherine of Siena) was eighth at 14.33 meters (14-2 ½).
The Flying Dutch's 4x400 relay clocked a fourth-place run. Junior Julie Timperman (Lafayette, Indiana / Faith Christian), senior Hayley Scollard (Traverse City, Michigan / T.C. Central), sophomore Erin Moran (Arlington Heights, Illinois / John Hersey), and sophomore Rachel Fusik (Brighton, Michigan / Brighton) went 4:29.48.
Sophomore Katie Cole (Batavia, Illinois / Batavia) posted a fifth-place effort in the 1 mile of 5:44.40.
Scollard and Timperman placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 400 meters at 1:05.74 and 1:05.78.
Schram tied for seventh in the high jump at 1.51 meters (5-1).
