Runner Jacinda Cole helped deliver a pair of Top 10 performances for the Hope College women's indoor track and field team at Grand Valley State University's two-day Big Meet this weekend.
On Saturday, the senior from Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa HS) clocked a ninth-place time in the 1-mile run of 5 minutes, 8.98 seconds.
It was the fastest non-Division I run in the event. Teammate Ellie Jankowski placed 10th; the junior from Granger, Indiana (Penn) had a time of 5:15.86.
Cole also competed in the opening leg of the distance medley relay that finished 10th. She teamed with junior Grace Behrens (Mishawaka, Indiana / Trinity School at Greenlawn), Jankowski, and junior Ana Tucker (Midland, MIchigan (H.H. Dow) for a run of 11:52.13.
On Friday, sophomore Libby Gorman (Traverse City, Michigan / St. Francis) recorded the Flying Dutch's top performance by taking 26th in the fourth heat of the 5,000-meter run at 19:25.50.
It was a non-scoring meet.
Hope returns to competition on Friday, Feb. 18, at 1:45 p.m. at the Grand Valley State University Tune Up.
