The Hope College men's track and field team took on the Snowdown Showdown hosted by Grand Valley State University on Friday in the non-scoring meet that featured some opponents such as Eastern Michigan University, Grand Valley State University, and Illinois University - Chicago.
The Flying Dutchmen totaled 19 top ten finishes, with six of those also being top five finishes.
Jackson Player, pictured right, and Case VanderZee led with two top ten finishes each.
Player (San Antonio, TX / Winston Churchill HS) took 9th in the 60 meter hurdles finals heat with a time of 8.78. The junior had taken 9th in the preliminary heat with a time of 8.79. Player also grabbed the 8th spot in the high jump, notching a 1.76 meter jump.
VanderZee (Holland, MI / Holland Christian) recorded a 1.71 meter jump in the high jump to take home 9th place. The junior also nabbed a 5th place finish in the long jump, recording a 6.02 meter jump.
Dan Campbell recorded the lone 1st place finish for Hope College at the Snowdown Throwdown. The sophomore from Brighton, MI (Brighton) clocked a time of 4:20.41 in the 1 mile finals. Eli Meder (4:23.09), Anders Bogard (4:29.42), and Jimmy Alford (4:43.05) took home 3rd, 6th, and 10th, respectively in the 1 mile race.
Connor Vachon (Jenison, MI / Jenison) grabbed a top five finish for the Flying Dutchmen with a time of 1:51.72 in the 800 meter run.
The junior, Zach Elmore (Cadillac, MI / Cadillac), recorded a 4.06 meter pole vault to land him a 5th place finish on Friday.
The 4x400 relay made up of David McHugh, Drew Dow, Nathan Woolum, and Nathan Trumble finished with a time of 3:26.46 to give them a 4th place finish.
In the triple jump, McHugh (12.32 meters), and Eric Salisbury (11.89 meters) took home 6th and 7th, respectively.
