The Hope College ice hockey team skated to a 3-2, come-from-behind victory against the Coast Guard Academy in the ACHA Division 3 Tournament on Thursday in St. Louis, Missouri.
The top-seeded and top-ranked Flying Dutchmen scored the final two goals, including the game-winner from Allan Hirsch, pictured, with 7 minutes, 54 seconds remaining.
Hope (30-1) tied the score 6:21 into the third period on a goal from Brad Baysore.
Coast Guard, seeded 16th, grabbed a 2-1 lead 69 seconds earlier on a Nicholas Seizer goal.
Max Mones opened the scoring for the Flying Dutchmen 9:51 into the first period on a goal off of a Lucas Barber assist. Coast Guard tied the score at 1-1 with five seconds remaining in the second period.
Goalie Maclane Schick made 17 saves for Hope.
The Flying Dutchmen's second pool play game is Friday, March 11, at 5:45 p.m. Central against Iowa State University, which tied Central Michigan University, 2-2 in overtime, on Thursday.
