Elena Salazar scored in bunches at an opportune time for the Hope College women's lacrosse team.
The sophomore attacker from Howell, Michigan (Hartland HS) sparked the Flying Dutch to a 14-8 victory at Aurora University (Ill.) on Friday by scoring a career-high seven goals.
The seven goals tied for the third-most by a Flying Dutch goal scorer in a single game.
Hope improved to 4-2 overall after snapping a two-game losing streak.
Salazar, pictured, struck three times during the first quarter to help stake the Flying Dutch to a 5-2 lead.
Aurora (3-3) reeled off the first three goals of the second quarter, but Salazar put Hope ahead for good with 1:37 remaining in the first half.
Sophomore midfielder Molly Frederickson (Alto, Michigan / Caledonia) then scored twice in a span of 14 seconds during the final 20 seconds of the half to push the Flying Dutch up, 8-5.
Hope dominated the third quarter, scoring all four goals. Salazar recorded two; senior midfielder Madison Micho (Grand Rapids, Michigan / East Grand Rapids) and senior attacker Madison McCreery (Rockford, Michigan / Rockford) each had one.
Frederickson finished with three goals. McCreery totaled two goals and two assists.
The Flying Dutch outshot Aurora, 38-20. Bailey Simpson's three goals topped Aurora.
Hope's next game is Tuesday, March 22, at Southwestern (Texas) at 6 p.m. Central.
