Women's Golf Tied for 2nd after First Round of NCAA Division III Championship Qualifier

Sophomore Abby Fansler and senior Megan Radaz both carded 84s to lead the Hope College women's golf team during the first round of the MIAA's NCAA Division III Championships qualifier on Tuesday.

Fansler (Muskegon, Michigan / Reeths-Puffer) and Radaz (Alma, Michigan / Alma HS), pictured from left, tied for fourth place individually after shooting 12-over par at Knollwood Country Club in Granger, Indiana.

The Flying Dutch tied for second in the four-team event after Adrian College also shot a team score of 343. 

Hope trails Saint Mary's College by 17 strokes heading into the final two rounds of the 54-hole qualifier. Calvin University is fourth at 347.

The Flying Dutch host the final two rounds of Friday-Saturday, April 22-23, at Clearbrook Golf Club in Saugatuck. Tee times are 1 p.m. for both days.

On Tuesday, Hope senior Megan Jenkinson (Traverse City, Michigan / Traverse City West) tied for eighth with an 85.

The Flying Dutch also received a 90 from sophomore Emlin Munch (Traverse City / Traverse City Central) and a 91 from junior Grace VanDellen (Oxford, Michigan / Lutheran Northwest).

Saint Mary's Sydney Hruskoci and Erin Bennett were co-medalists after shooting 80s.
