Amid a milestone-filled afternoon, the Hope College women's lacrosse team also accomplished its priority team objective.
The Flying Dutch won at Kalamazoo College, 17-11, in the regular-season finale on Saturday and continued their momentum heading into next week's MIAA Tournament.
Hope will take a three-game winning streak into postseason play. The MIAA Tournament semifinals will be on Wednesday, May 4, at a site and time to be announced.
The Flying Dutch (10-6, 4-2 MIAA) join regular-season champion Albion College, Saint Mary's College, and Trine University in the four-team field.
Against Kalamazoo, senior Madison Micho and sophomore Elena Salazar both achieved individual milestones.
Salazar (Howell, Michigan / Hartland HS), pictured left, set a Hope single-season goal scoring record.
The sophomore totaled a team-high six goals in consecutive games to give her 53 on the season. Salazar surpassed Carly Pieri, who recorded 51 goals in 2019.
Micho (Grand Rapids, Michigan / East Grand Rapids), pictured right, scored three times against Kalamazoo to become the third member of the Flying Dutch to record 100 career goals.
Micho has 100 goals, joining Carly Pieri '21 (125) and Rachel Elder '21 (104).
Salazar and Micho combined to get Hope out to a 4-0 lead in the first quarter. Salazar scored the first two goals. Micho followed with the third.
Senior Madison McCreery (Rockford, Michigan / Rockford) chipped in three goals against Kalamazoo.
Hannah Herren led the Hornets (8-9, 2-5 MIAA) with seven goals.
