Hope College's Cole Scheffler has been named as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's Lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the Week.

The senior FOGO (face off get off)from Rockford, Michigan (Rockford HS) is receiving the honor for the second time this season and for the third time in his career. 

A Spanish and business major, Scheffler won 73.3 percent of face-offs and totaled 12 ground balls during two wins last week that earned the Flying Dutchmen an outright MIAA regular-season championship.

On Tuesday, Scheffler won 22-of-27 face-offs and collected six ground balls during a 23-7 win at home against Alma College.

On Friday, Scheffler won 11-of-18 face-offs and collected six ground balls during a 12-2 win at Calvin University.
