Men's Golf Rises to Fourth Place at Region V Showcase

The Hope College men's golf team moved up one spot and placed fourth out of 16 teams at the NCAA Division III Region V Showcase on Tuesday in South Bend, Ind.

With a final-round 305, the Flying Dutchmen recorded a 36-hole, two-day total of 613.

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology finished in first place (295-290—585). Otterbein University (Ohio) took second place (300-302—602). Trine University was third (312-299—611).

The event was the final one of the fall season for Hope. The Flying Dutchmen's spring schedule will be announced at a later date.

Junior Will Webb (Lake Forest, Illinois / Lake Forest HS) tied for sixth individually in the field of 95 golfers for Hope after carding a 6-over-par 77 during the final round at Warren Golf Course.

Webb ended the tournament at 9-over (74-77—151).

Rose-Hulman's Austin Frick claimed medalist honors at 3-over (69-70—139).

Senior Logan DeWitt (Zeeland, Michigan / Holland Christian) tied for 12th at 11-over (72-80—152).

Junior Ben Jackson (Fort Wayne, Indiana / Carroll) and sophomore Patrick Michael (Carmel, Indiana / Carmel) tied for 23rd at 14-over.

Michael fired a 74 on Tuesday, eight strokes better than his opening round.

Jackson recorded a 77 on Tuesday and a 79 on Monday.

Junior Will Robson (Grand Rapids, Michigan / East Grand Rapids) and sophomore Liam Casey (Northville, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central) tied for 26th at 15-over.

Robson shot 77 on Tuesday and 80 on Monday. Casey carded a 79 on Tuesday after a 78 on Monday.
