Led by Most Valuable Player Addie VanderWeide, the Hope College volleyball team has four All-MIAA honorees for the 2023 season.

The MIAA champion and third-ranked Flying Dutch placed VanderWeide on the All-MIAA First Team as well as junior middle blocker Alison DeWeerd and sophomore setter Lauren Lee. Freshman middle blocker Kamryn Burbridge is a second-team selection.

VanderWeide, an outside hitter, is the seventh different Flying Dutch student-athlete to be named MIAA MVP in volleyball.

The junior from Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grand Rapids Christian HS) follows Tracy Westra (2021), Andrea Helminiak (2009), Amy Brower (2001), current Hope head coach Becky Schmidt (1997 and 1998), DeeAnn Knoll (1987) and Linda Percy (1983).

In her first season at Hope, VanderWeide topped the MIAA in kills per set in league matches at 4.79 while recording a .349 attack percentage. The business major played front and back row,  averaging two digs per set.

Hope went undefeated in league play this fall, winning all eight matches. The Flying Dutch earned the top seed and are hosting this weekend's MIAA Tournament.

Lee (Plymouth, Michigan / Saline) excelled at directing the Hope offense, delivering a league-best 11.96 assists per set. The biology major also shared top serving marks in the MIAA with 0.56 aces per set in league matches.

This is Lee's second All-MIAA First Team recognition.

DeWeerd (Kentwood, Michigan / South Christian) contributed 2.61 kills and 0.78 blocks per set in league play while posting an attack percentage of .354.

The social work major received All-MIAA honors for the second time after receiving second-team honors as a sophomore.

Burbridge (Grand Haven, Michigan / Grand Haven) tied for fifth one block per set against MIAA opponents. Burbridge also averaged 2.67 kills per set in league play.
