Women's and Men's Cross Country Repeat as National Academic Award Recipients

Six Hope College runners earned individual academic distinction as well.

Both Hope College cross country teams and six of their runners have received national academic honors from the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association for the 2022 season.

The MIAA champion Flying Dutch claimed the women's All-Academic Team honor for the 33rd consecutive time with a 3.75 grade point average. Hope was one of 212 honorees in NCAA Division III.

The Flying Dutchmen earned their honor for the 32nd time in 33 seasons with a 3.26 grade point average. Hope was among the 189 honorees nationally.

Individually, five Flying Dutch runners received All-Academic Athlete distinction, while one Flying Dutchmen runner did.

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.

Hope's female recipients were: senior business and communication double major Ellie Jankowski (Granger, Indiana / Penn HS); junior civil engineering major Rebecca Markham (Hoffman Estates, Illinois / William Fremd); senior public accounting major Anna Mason (Zeeland, Michigan / Libertas Christian); freshman Madison Stern (Saline, Michigan / Saline); and senior kinesiology major Ana Tucker (Midland, Michigan / H.H. Dow).

The group of Flying Dutch was among 383 national honorees from 137 different institutions.

Sophomore Connor Vachon (Jenison, Michigan, Michigan) is Hope's male recipient. The computer science and mathematics major is one of 320 national honorees from the 119 institutions.
