NOTES

Hope is seeded third in the MIAA Tournament, and Trine second. The winner advances to play either top-seeded Trine University or fourth-seeded Olivet College in the championship game on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 7:30 p.m. at Calvin.

This is the Flying Dutchmen's 32nd MIAA Tournament appearance. Hope owns a 51-17 all-time record in postseason play since the format to determine the MIAA's recipient of an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Championships began in 1992. Trine is 9-16 in MIAA Tournament action since the Thunder's first appearance in 2005, including three title game appearances and one championship in 2021.

The Flying Dutchmen own a 20-10 record in the MIAA Tournament semifinals, including victories vs. Albion College at home in 2022 and a double-overtime loss at Albion in 2021. Last season, the Flying Dutchmen went on to earn their 14th MIAA Tournament crown.

Hope is seeking to become the program's first MIAA Tournament championship as a No. 3 seed. When seeded third, the Flying Dutchmen advanced to the championship game in 2021 and lost in the semifinals in 2015, 2005, 2000, and 1994.

The Flying Dutchmen are 4-1 against Trine in the MIAA Tournament and 37-13 all-time against the Thunder. Hope last played Trine in the MIAA Tournament in 2016. The Thunder won, 82-77, in the  semifinals at DeVos Fieldhouse.

Hope looks to snap a three-game losing streak to the Thunder tonight, including two losses this season: 89-84 in double overtime at Trine on January 4 and 56-43 on February 8 at Hope. The Thunder have won eight of the past 10 meetings.

Seniors Evan Thomas and Clayton Dykhouse both reached career milestones during Thursday's 82-63 quarterfinal win at DeVos Fieldhouse. Thomas, a biology major, became the 19th member of the Flying Dutchmen to reach 1,300 career points. Thomas has 1,303 points in 81 career games. Dykhouse, an education major, became the 44th member of the Flying Dutchmen to reach 1,000 career points. Dykhouse has 1,002 points in 91 career games.
