Box Score The Hope College women's tennis team swept both doubles matches and won four of five singles matches to grab their second win of the season.
The Flying Dutch tallied an 8-1 win over Lawrence Tech on Saturday at DeWitt Tennis Center, improving to 2-2 overall.
At No. 1 doubles freshman Amanda Lopykinski (Lemont, Illinois / Lemont Township HS) and partner sophomore Sullivan Moran (Birmingham, Michigan / Wylie E. Groves) secured the lead for Hope after earning an 8-1 dominant win. Sophomore Miyako Coffey (Cedar Rapids, Iowa / Xavier) and partner senior Taylor Truman (Hudsonville, Michigan / Hudsonville) clinched the doubles points with an 8-3 win over their Lawrence Tech opponents.
Lopykinski then pushed through three sets at No. 1 singles, picking up another point for Hope. Moran swept her sets at No. 2 singles to put Hope even further ahead of Lawrence Tech.
Junior Annika Weeber (Rockford, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian) in the No. 3 slot battled back from a first set tie-breaker loss with 6-4 and 10-7 set wins to grab Hope's third singles win.
At No. 5 singles freshman Hope Rhoades (Holland, Michigan / Holland Christian) capped off the win with a first set 6-2 win followed by a 7-6 tiebreaker win for Hope.
The Flying Dutch set back out on the road as they travel to North Central College in Naperville, Illinois, on Friday, March 3, for a match beginning at 4 p.m.
