Hope College's Eli Meder finished 16th in the nation in the 800 meters on Friday at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships.

The junior from Williamston, Michigan (Lansing Catholic HS) clocked a time of 1 minute, 54.76 seconds during preliminaries at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama.

The top eight runners advanced to the finals on Saturday, March 11. Mike Jasa of Loras College (Iowa) posted the fastest qualifying time of 1:50.62.

It was Meder's second trip to nationals.

Meder earned All-America honors as a junior with a fourth-place finish in the distance medley relay in 2022.

"It was a great opportunity for him to get to nationals. That sets him up for the next time he gets there," head coach Kevin Cole said. "He's set up to do really well."
