Nine Women's Track/Field Athletes Claim All-MIAA Honors; Ana Tucker MVP in Track

Nine members of the MIAA champion Hope College women's indoor track and field team have received All-MIAA recognition for the 2023 season.

Individual event champions Greta Robrahn, Sara Schermerhorn and Ana Tucker are joined by relay event champions Grace Behrens, Ellie Jankowski, Erin Moran, Julie Timperman, Heleyna Tucker and Emily Unger.

Tucker (Midland, Michigan / H.H. Dow HS) also was selected as the MIAA's Most Valuable Women's Track Athlete by the league's coaches.

Tucker, who also earned the honor in 2021, joined Mitchel Achien'g as a two-time recipient of Hope's most valuable indoor track or field honors. Achien'g was the Most Valuable Field Athlete in 2019 and 2020.

Hope's Most Valuable Track Athletes

At the MIAA Championships on Saturday, Tucker raced to meet records in the 3,000 meters and the 1-mile.

An exercise science major, Tucker surpassed her own MIAA record in the 3,000 meters by six seconds at 9:52.67 and her own MIAA mile record by more than four seconds. The senior anchored the Flying Dutch's first-place distance medley relay that clocked a time of 13:09.59.

Schermerhorn (Traverse City, Michigan / T.C. West) swept the MIAA sprint titles with meet-record performances.

In the 60 meters, Schermerhorn sprinted to a first-place of run 7.82 seconds. Schermerhorn passed the 60-meter record of 7.87 set by Albion's Avery Campbell in 2022.

In the 200 meters, Schermerhorn clocked a meet-record and school-record time of 25.55. The 200 time marked her fifth time breaking the school record this season. Schermerhorn eclipsed the previous MIAA record of 25.69 set by Albion's Layla Wilks in 2018.

Schermerhorn ran the second leg of the MIAA champion 4x400 relay that recorded a time of 4:04.84.

Robrahn (Zeeland, Michigan / Zeeland East) earned her first All-MIAA recognition in indoor track by winning the shot put with a toss of 12.61 meters (41 feet, 4 ½ inches). The sophomore is a physical and health education major.

This is the second All-MIAA indoor track for Behrens and the first for Jankowski, Moran, Timperman, Unger, and Heleyna Tucker. Behrens, Moran and Timperman ran on the 4x400 relay. Jankowski, Heleyna Tucker and Unger raced on the distance medley relay.

Behrens, a senior from Mishawaka, Indiana (Trinity School at Greenlawn), is an environmental science major.

Jankowski, a senior from Granger, Indiana, is a business and communication major.

Moran, a senior from Arlington Heights, Illinois (John Hersey), is a psychology and social studies education composite major.

Timperman, a senior from Lafayette, Indiana (Faith Christian) is a computer engineering major.

Heleyna Tucker, a senior from Midland, Michigan (H.H. Dow) is a mathematic major.

Unger, a senior from Montague, Michigan (Montague), is a chemistry major.
