Men's Golf Ties for 14th at 37-team Illinois Wesleyan Invitational

The Hope College men's golf team carded a final round 311 on Saturday and tied for 14th place overall at the 37-team Illinois Wesleyan University Invitational.

The Flying Dutchmen finished with a two-day total of 616.

Senior Seth Almquist (Minneapolis, Minnesota / Wayzata HS) fired a 5-over-76 on Saturday at Weibring Golf Club in Normal, Illinois, to lead Hope.

Almquist tied for 59th place in the 212-golfer field with a 154 (78-76).

Junior Will Robson (Grand Rapids, Michigan / East Grand Rapids) recorded Hope's highest finish by tying for 39th place.

Robson shot a 78 on Saturday after a 2-over-par 74 on Friday at Ironwood Golf Club in Bloomington, Illinois.

Freshman Patrick Michael (Carmel, Indiana / Carmel) chipped in a final-round 76 and an 80 on Friday.

Freshman Liam Casey (Northville, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central) and sophomore Will Webb (Lake Forest, Illinois / Lake Forest) tied for 109th at 158. Webb posted a final-round 79; Casey an 84.

Sophomore Jack Guerrera (Northville, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central) was one stroke behind Casey and Webb after shooting a 78 on Saturday and an 81 on Friday.

Hope's next round is on Saturday, April 15, at 1 p.m. at the opening round of the MIAA's 54-hole NCAA Division III Championships qualifier hosted by Trine University at Glendarin Hills Golf Club in Angola, Indiana.

The Flying Dutchmen — who were regular-season champions last fall — will host the final 36 holes of the tournament on Friday-Saturday, April 21-22, at Wuskowhan Players Club in West Olive.
