Men's Track/Field Wins Three Events at Indiana Tech

The Hope College men's outdoor track and field team posted three first-place performances during Indiana Tech's Good Friday Invitational.

Sprinter Liam Danitz, javelin thrower Aidan Kyle, and runner Eli Meder also recorded winning efforts during the non-scoring meet in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Danitz (West Branch, Michigan / Ogemaw Heights HS) topped the field in the 200 meters by clocking a time of 22.09 seconds. The freshman also finished third in the 200 meters with a run of 10.92 seconds.

Kyle (Weston, Connecticut / Weston) took first in the javelin with a toss of 47.70 meters (156 feet, 5 inches).

Meder (Williamston, Michigan / Lansing Catholic) won the 1,500 meters in 3:57.20.

Hope placed runner-up in two events: the 4x400 relay and the triple jump.

In the 4x400 relay, freshman Wyatt Marsh (Grand Blanc, Michigan / Lake Fenton), Danitz, sophomore David McNiff (Norton Shores, Michigan / Mona Shores) and sophomore Joshua Ennen (Zeeland, Michigan / Zeeland West) crossed the finish line second with a time of 3:36.2.

In the triple jump, senior Jackson Player (San Antonio, Texas / Winston Churchill) posted a second-place leap of 12.15 meters (39-10 ½).

Junior Nathan Colbrunn (Zeeland, Michigan / Zeeland East) took fifth at 11.31 meters (37-1 ¼). Kyle, a sophomore, was sixth at 11.29 meters (37-0 ½).

Player also recorded a fourth-place run in the 400 hurdles at 58.86 seconds and a fifth-place time in the 110 hurdles at 15.54.

In the 5,000 meters, senior Anders Bogard (Mattawan, Michigan / Kalamazoo Christian) took third by clocking a run of 15:25.66. Senior Gabe DeYoung (Saegertown, Pennsylvania / Saegertown) finished ninth at 11:54.55.

In the javelin, Will Pinkerton recorded a seventh-place toss of 40.69 meters (133-6). Sophomore Derik Smith (Niles, Michigan / Edwardsburg) took 10th at 35.83 meters (117-7).

In the 400 hurdles, Ennen placed 10th at 1:01.89. 

In the 1,500, freshman Erickson Kunzler (Marne, Michigan / Grand Rapids Catholic Central) was 10th at 4:10.49.

Hope's next meet is Saturday, April 15, at 11:30 a.m. Central at Wheaton College (Ill.).
