Ana Tucker Runs to Second All-America Honor in the 10,000 Meters

Recent Hope College graduate Ana Tucker added another chapter to her legendary Hope College distance running career on Thursday.

Tucker (Midland, Michigan / H.H. Dow HS) earned All-American honors with another school-record performance in the women's 10,000 meters at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by St. John Fisher Univerity (N.Y.).

Tucker finished fourth in the event in a time of 34 minutes, 00.25 seconds at the Polisseni Track and Field Complex in Pittsford, N.Y., outside of Rochester.

Tucker smashed her own previous school record set at the Drake Relays on April 26 by nearly 25 seconds. Tucker ran at 34:24.97 at the Drake meet.

It was Tucker's second All-American honor in the 10,000 meters and the fourth time she has received All-American honors at the outdoor Division III national championships in her career.

Tucker placed eighth in the 10,000 meters and fifth in the 5,000 meters last year and fourth in the 5,000 meters in 2021.

Kassie Parker of Loras College (Iowa) won the national championship in the 10,000 meters in a time of 33:02.53. It was the third-fastest time in Division III history.

Four other Hope women's track and field athletes competed in preliminaries on Thursday but did not qualify for the finals.

The Flying Dutch's 4x400-meter relay team of senior Julie Timperman (Lafayette, Indiana/Faith Christian), freshman Sara Schermerhorn (Traverse City, Michigan/Traverse City West), junior Erin Moran (Arlington Heights, Illinois/John Hersey) and senior Grace Behrens (Mishawaka, Indiana/Trinity School at Greenlawn) placed 14th in a time of 3:52.62.

Schermerhorn took 16th in the 200-meter prelims with a time of 25 seconds flat, just missing qualifying for the finals by .34 of a second.

Tucker will run her final collegiate race on Saturday, May 27, in the women's 5,000 meters. She is seeded fourth in that race.
