The Hope College men's golf team carded a team score of 297 on Tuesday and sits six strokes off the lead after the first round of MIAA play.

Junior Will Robson (Grand Rapids, Michigan / East Grand Rapids HS) fired an even-par 72 at Cascades Golf Course in Jackson to lead the Flying Dutchmen to a third-place finish.

Hope trails Calvin University and Trine University after both shot 291s.

The round was the first of six to be played this fall and spring to determine the MIAA champion. The lowest cumulative total after 108 holes will win and receive the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Championships.

Robson tied for fourth place individually. He was four strokes behind medalist Ethan Tiller of Calvin.

Sophomore Liam Casey (Northville, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central) chipped in a 74 for the Flying Dutchmen.

Senior Logan DeWitt (Zeeland, Michigan / Holland Christian) recorded a 75.

Sophomore Patrick Michael (Carmel, Indiana / Carmel) shot a 76.

Junior Will Webb (Lake Forest, Illinois / Lake Forest) posted a 77.

Junior Ben Jackson (Fort Wayne, Indiana / Carroll) had an 80.

Hope next plays on Monday, Sept. 25, at 1 p.m. at the MIAA Jamboree hosted by Calvin at Muskegon Country Club.
