Will Webb Powers Men's Golf to Within One Stroke of MIAA Lead

The Will Webb-led Hope College men's golf team moved within one stroke of the MIAA lead on Monday in Muskegon.

Webb fired a 1-under-par 72 at Muskegon Country Club to help the Flying Dutchmen post a round of 302 and a 36-hole team score of 599.

The junior from Lake Forest, Illinois (Lake Forest HS) claimed medalist honors for the day. Hope finished the day with a team score of 301 — one stroke behind jamboree winner Adrian College.

After 36 holes, Calvin sits in first at 598. The Flying Dutchmen are tied for second place with Trine University. Adrian is in fourth place, 10 strokes off the lead.

Webb edged Calvin's Gregory Braun for low-round honors by one stroke.

Hope's second-best round came from sophomore Patrick Michael (Carmel, Indiana / Carmel), who chipped a 76.

Sophomore Liam Casey (Northville, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central) and senior Will Robson (Grand Rapids, Michigan / East Grand Rapids) each carded 77s to round out the Flying Dutchmen's score.

Senior Logan DeWitt (Zeeland, Michigan / Holland Christian) recorded a 79.

Junior Jack Guerrera (Northville, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central) shot an 82.

The Flying Dutchmen return to competition on Saturday, Sept. 30, at 1 p.m. at the MIAA Jamboree hosted by Trine University at Zollner Golf Course.
