Two Men's Golf Teams Excel at Season-Opening Tournament

Two groups of Hope College men's golfers fared exceptionally well at the Aurora University (Ill.) 36-hole Double Gun event on Tuesday.

The Flying Dutchmen shot team scores of 611 and 614 during their first event of the season to finish third and fourth, respectively, at the 19-team, one-day event.

Sophomore Liam Casey (Northville, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central HS) led the 611-scoring Hope team by firing 4-over-par 148 (71-77) at Aurora Country Club and tying for third place.

Casey was followed by junior Will Webb (Lake Forest, Illinois / Lake Forest), who finished at 9-over (79-74) and tied for 10th place.

Junior Jack Guerrera (Northville, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central) placed at 12-over (78-78) and tied for 12th.

Sophomore Patrick Michael (Carmel, Indiana / Carmel) finished one stroke behind Guerrera (75-82).

Senior Will Robson (East Grand Rapids, Michigan / East Grand Rapids) was at 14-over (77-81).

Senior Logan DeWitt (Zeeland, Michigan / Holland Christian) topped the 614-scoring Hope group by carding a 4-over par total (72-76) and tying for third.

Junior Ben Jackson (Fort Wayne, Indiana / Carroll) placid at 9-over (78-75).

Sophomore Klay Redman (Dublin, Ohio / Dublin Coffman) came in 12-over (74-82).

Freshman Hank Roebuck (Ann Arbor, Michigan / Skyline) was at 13-over (80-77).

Host Aurora posted the top two team scores at 599 and 606.

Hope's next event is Monday-Tuesday, September 11-12, at the Carthage College Fall Classic at The Club at Strawberry Creek in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
