No. 12-Ranked Women's Swim/Dive Posts Six Top-3 Performances vs. D-I Oakland and D-II Saginaw Valley State

Swimmer Greta Gidley led a group of six top-three finishes for the 12th-ranked Hope College women's swimming and diving team on Friday at Oakland University.

The junior from Franklin, Michigan (Mercy HS) won the 100-yard butterfly against NCAA Division I Oakland and NCAA Division II Saginaw Valley State University by clocking a time of 57.31 seconds.

The Flying Dutch fell to Oakland, 227-72, and Saginaw Valley State, 171-128.

Hope's 400 freestyle finished in second place. Gidley teamed with sophomore Laurel Wasiniak (Northville, Michigan / Northville), junior Lauren Ryle (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Catholic Central) and senior Delaney Wesolek (Bay City, Michigan / John Glenn) recorded a swim of 3:34.33.

Wasiniak posted third-place times in both the 50 freestyle at 24.74 and the 100 freestyle at 52.97.

In the 100 backstroke, junior Sara Kraus (Rockford, Michigan / Rockford) took the third with a swim of 58.51.

In the 200 freestyle, sophomore Ashlea Swingewood (Carmel, Indiana / Carmel) placed third by clocking a time of 1:56.22. Gidley was fourth at 1:56.35.

Hope took fourth in three events.

In the 200 individual medley, Kraus finished fourth at 2:10.13.

In the 200 medley relay, Kraus, freshman Anna Stolle (Fishers, Indiana / Hamilton Southeastern), Gidley and Ryle clocked a fourth-place time of 1:48.31.

In 1-meter diving, senior Cameron Hamilton (Libertyville, Illinois / Libertyville) took fourth with a score of 224.75 points. Senior Sophia Farbarzhevich (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Forest Hills Northern) was fourth at 219.80.
