Women's Tennis Serves Up Victory in Fall Finale

The Hope College women's tennis team wrapped up its fall season by winning at Lawrence Tech, 6-1, on Friday.

The Flying Dutch won seven matches to claim the season's first dual-match victory.

In singles, junior Amanda Lopykinski (Lemont, Illinois / Lemont Township HS) took the No. 1 flight with a 6-4, 6-3 victory against Paola Herrera Rivera.

At No. 2 singles, senior Sullivan Moran (Birmingham, Michigan / Wylie E. Groves) downed Claudia Calabuig, 6-4, 6-1.

At No. 3 singles, freshman Hadley Krygier (White Lake, Michigan / Walled Lake Northern) topped Olga Aliagas Mejina, 7-5, 4-6, 6-0.

At No. 4 singles, senior Miyako Coffey (Cedar Rapids, Iowa / Xavier) outlasted Jacqueline Alcocer, 6-3, 3-6, 12-10.

At No. 5 singles, sophomore Madison Wei (Parker, Colorado / Regis Jesuit) lost to Isabella Aray, 6-2, 6-1.

At No. 6 singles, freshman Kaitylyn Stievater (Bloomfield Hills, Michigan / Wylie E. Groves) defeated Miriam McCormick, 6-2, 6-4.

Hope earned the doubles points by winning two of the three flights.

At No. 1 doubles, Lopykinski and Moran topped Aliagas Mejina and Alcocer, 6-2.

At No. 2 doubles, Krygier and Coffey served up a 6-4 victory against McCormick and Herrera Rivera.

At No. 3 doubles, Wei and sophomore Phoebe Walker (Traverse City, Michigan / Traverse City Central) lost to Aray and Calabuig, 7-6 (5).
