Volleyball Draws Washington and Lee in the NCAA Quarterfinals

The match on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m. will be streamed on ESPN+

The Hope College volleyball team will face a new opponent in the NCAA Division III quarterfinals next month in Salem, Virginia.

The second-ranked Flying Dutch will play 11th-ranked Washington and Lee University from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m. at Roanoke College's Cregger Center.

This is Hope's third consecutive trip to the national quarterfinals and sixth overall. The Flying Dutch won their first national title in the sport in 2014, finished national runner-up in 2023, reached the semifinals in 2009, and lost in the quarterfinals in 2022 and 2013.

All-session passes and single-day tickets are on sale through the ODAC ticket office.

All tournament matches will be streamed on ESPN+.

On Sunday, the NCAA announced a scheduled reseeding for the eight-team national championships after regional tournaments concluded.

Hope (28-2) finished fourth in the latest NPI ranking and received the fourth seed, while Washington and Lee (32-2) took fifth in the NPI and is seeded fifth.

Top-ranked Juniata College (Pennsylvania) topped the NPI and claimed the No. 1 seed. The two-time defending national champions will meet eighth-seeded and 13th-ranked University of La Verne (California) on Dec. 4 at 4:30 p.m.

The Hope-Washington and Lee and Juniata-La Verne winners will play in the national semifinals on Thursday, Dec. 5, at a time to be announced.

On the other side of the bracket, fifth-ranked and third-seeded Emory University (Georgia) will face sixth-ranked and sixth-seeded University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Dec. 4 at 11:30 a.m.

Then, third-ranked and second-seeded Johns Hopkins University (Maryland) will meet seventh-ranked and seventh-seeded University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Dec. 4 at 2 p.m.

The Emory-Whitewater and Johns Hopkins-Oshkosh winners will square off in the national semifinals on Dec. 5 at a time to be announced.

The national championship match is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m. Juniata defeated Hope in the 2023 final in Claremont, California.
