Seven members of the Hope College men's soccer team received All-MIAA honors for the 2024 season, with senior Cole Pauly garnering additional recognition as the league's Most Valuable Player.
Pauly was named to the All-MIAA First Team, along with senior Matthew Davidson, senior Daniel Hesselbein, freshman Jackson Mindling, junior Seth Walters and sophomore Josh Weigel. Fifth-year Jake Lyon was named to the All-MIAA Second Team.
The All-MIAA awards are voted on at the conclusion of the regular season by the head coaches from the eight MIAA institutions that sponsor men's soccer. Earning a share of the MIAA league championship, the Flying Dutchmen finished the regular season 5-0-2 in conference play and 13-1-3 overall. Â
Pauly (Mundelein, Illinois / Mundelein HS), a defender and team co-captain, helped hold the seven league opponents to a collective total of just two goals across the entire regular season while also contributing a goal and an assist. The business major claimed All-MIAA recognition for the third time in his career.Â
Davidson (Grand Ledge, Michigan / Grand Ledge), a midfielder and team co-captain, received All-MIAA recognition for the first time in his career. The business major's tenure included two shots on goal against league opponents.
Hesselbein (Barrington, Illinois / Barrington Community) received All-MIAA recognition as a goalkeeper for the second time in his career. The physical and health education major made 15 saves against league opponents for a 0.87 percentage.
Mindling (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian) received All-MIAA recognition for the first time in his career. The forward scored three goals against MIAA opponents.
Walters (St. Joseph, Michigan / St. Joseph) earned All-MIAA recognition for the second time in his career. The forward and engineering major scored three goals against MIAA opponents.
Weigel (Naperville, Illinois / Naperville Central) is a midfielder who scored a goal and had an assist in MIAA play. This is his second year as an All-MIAA honoree.
Lyon (Marshall, Michigan / Marshall) is a defender who had helped hold the league's seven opponents to a combined total of just two goals and provided an assist in league play. The economics major received All-MIAA honors for the third time.
