Eli Meder Clocks One of Nation's Fastest 800-Meter Times at Notre Dame

The Hope College senior clocked one of NCAA Division III's fastest times of the season in the men's 800-meter run on Saturday at the University of Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind.

Meder (Williamston, Michigan / Lansing Catholic HS) clocked a school-record run of 1 minute, 50.81 seconds in a 10-runner field that primarily featured Division I entrants.

Heading into Saturday, Division III's fastest men's 800 run belonged to Noah Jorgenson of Central College (Iowa) at 1:51.25. The mark was set on December 8 at the Iowa State Invitational.

After the weekend, Meder's converted time of 1:52.40 from Notre Dame's oversized track ranks him fourth-fastest in the nation.

University of Michigan freshman Trent McFarland won the 800 at Notre Dame by posting a non-converted time of 1:49.50.

The top 20 declared runners in individual events qualify for the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 8-9 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Va.
