Men's Cross Country Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Honor for the 33rd Time

The Hope College men's cross country team earned All-Academic team and individual honors from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the 2023 season.

It is the 33rd time the Flying Dutchmen have claimed the distinction.

To qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.

The Mark Northuis-coached Flying Dutchmen recorded a 3.46 grade point average.

To qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25% of their respective regional championship meet.


Four represented Hope by earning USTFCCCA All-Academic honors: senior Dan Campbell (Brighton, Michigan / Brighton HS), junior Lucas Guidone (Chicago, Illinois / Taft),  junior Connor Vachon (Jenison, Michigan / Jenison) and sophomore Ian Petruska (Fort Collins, Colorado / Fort Collins).

Campbell is a physical and health education major.

Guidone is majoring in biochemistry and molecular biology.

Vachon is majoring in mathematics secondary education and computer science.
