Women's Swim Bring Home Three More All-America Second Team Efforts

Hope College women's swimmers posted three more All-America Second Team efforts during Day 2 of the NCAA Division III Championships on Thursday in Greensboro, N.C.

The points helped the Flying Dutch be in 12th place out of 32 teams with 51 points going into Day 3 on Friday, March 22, at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

In the 100-yard butterfly, junior Greta Gidley (Franklin, Michigan / Mercy HS) clocked an 11th-place time of 55.26 seconds during the consolation final.

Gidley was national runner-up in the 200 individual medley on Wednesday.

In the 400 medley relay, Hope placed 12th.

Junior Sara Kraus (Rockford, Michigan / Rockford), junior Lauren Ryle (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Catholic Central), Gidley and senior Delaney Wesolek (Bay City, Michigan / John Glenn) clocked a swim of 3:47.94.

In the 200 freestyle relay, Hope finished 15th.

Gidley, Ryle, Kraus and Wesolek recorded a time of 1:35.21.

On Friday, Hope will compete in three events: Kraus and sophomore Katie Hermann (Canton, Michigan / Mercy) in the 100 backstroke, and Ryle in the 100 breaststroke and the 800 freestyle relay.

Prelims start at 10 a.m. and are followed by finals at 6 p.m.
