Women's Swim Advances Two to Day 4 Finals at NCAA Champiosnhips

Two Hope College women's swimmers have qualified for the Day 4 finals at the NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday in Greensboro, N.C.

Juniors Sara Kraus and Greta Gidley will compete in the 200-yard backstroke and 100-yard freestyle consolation finals, respectively.

The finals begin at 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on ncaa.com.

In the 200 backstroke, Kraus (Rockford, Michigan / Rockford HS) finished 12th during prelims with a time of 2 minutes, 1.90 seconds.

Sophomore Katie Hermann (Canton, Michigan / Mercy) placed 21st in the 200 backstroke after swimming 2:03.59 during prelims.

In the 100 freestyle, Gidley (Franklin, Michigan / Mercy) took 15th during prelims with a time of 51.34.

Junior Lauren Ryle (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Catholic Central) finished 38th in the 100 freestyle at 51.93. Sophomore Laurel Wasiniak (Northville, Michigan / Northville) was 56th at 52.65.

The top 16 swims in each event advance to the finals.

Hope finished 21st in the 400 freestyle relay. Sophomore Bella Turner (Chelsea, Michigan / Chelsea), Ryle, Wasiniak, and senior Delaney Wesolek (Bay City, Michigan / John Glenn) clocked a swim of 3:30.21.
