Men's Track and Field Clocks Season-Best Times at Final Meet Before the MIAA Championships

The Hope College men's track and field team recorded two season-best performances during the Grand Valley State University Extra Weekend meet on Thursday.

In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, senior Dan Campbell (Brighton, Michigan / Brighton HS) clocked a season-best and seventh-place run of 9 minutes, 16.27 seconds.

In the 1,500 meters, junior Connor Vachon (Jenison, Michigan / Jenison) posted a season-best and seventh-place effort of 3 minutes, 47.63 seconds. It was the fastest time for an NCAA Division III runner at the meet.

The non-scoring meet was the final event for the Flying Dutchmen before the MIAA Championships on Thursday-Friday, May 3-4, hosted by Calvin University at Grand Rapids Christian High School.

Hope took second in the 4x100 relay and the 200 meters.

In the 4x100 relay, sophomore Nolan Sanders (Midland, Michigan / H.H. Dow), senior Nathan Woolum (Mattawan, Michigan / Mattawan), junior Alex Daniels (Holland, Michigan / Holland) and sophomore Liam Danitz (West Branch, Michigan / Ogemaw Heights) clocked a runner-up race of 41.55 seconds.

In the 200 meters, Daniels placed second in the 200 with a time of 22.04 seconds. Woolum finished fourth at 22.16 seconds. Danitz was fifth at 22.19.

Sanders recorded a fourth-place time in the 100 meters of 10.95 seconds. Daniels was ninth at 11.02.

Junior Joshua Ennen (Zeeland, Michigan / Zeeland West) posted a sixth-place effort in the 400 meters of 50.03 seconds.

Woolum clocked a fourth-place, 400-meter hurdles run of 54.68 seconds.

In the 110 hurdles, senior Jackson Player (San Antonio, Texas / Winston Churchill) was 10th at 15.82.

Player finished eighth in the high jump after clearing 1.74 meters (5 feet, 8 ½ inches).

Sophomore Darion Nundley (Detroit, Michigan / Woodhaven) placed eighth in the long jump of 6.45 meters (21-2).
