Men's Track and Field Posts Two Season-Best Marks at St. Francis Fighting Chance Invite

The Hope College men's track and field team posted two season-best times and four Top 10 finishes at the University of St. Francis (Illinois) Fighting Chance Invite over the weekend.

The non-scoring meet was one of the Flying Dutchmen's last chances to improve qualifying marks for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships later this month.

In the 200 meters, sophomore Liam Danitz (West Branch, Michigan / Ogemaw Heights HS) placed seventh with a season-best time of 21.91 seconds.

In the 5,000 meters, sophomore Ian Petruska (Fort Collins, Colorado / Fort Collins) recorded a 10th-place run in his section of 14 minutes, 36.98 seconds. The time was Hope's fastest in the event this season.

Sophomore Carston Cole (Holland, Michigan / West Ottawa) placed 14th in his section with a time of 14:54.86.

In the 1,500 meters, junior Tyler King (Villa Park, Illinois / Willowbrook) clocked a sixth-place time of 4:01.04.

In the 400-meter hurdles, senior Nathan Woolum (Mattawan, Michigan / Mattawan) took sixth with a run of 58.00 seconds.

In the 100 meters, Danitz posted a 13th-place effort of 10.80 seconds.

In the 800 meters, sophomore Erickson Kunzler (Marne, Michigan / Catholic Central) placed 21st at 1:59.0.
