Connor Vachon Places 13th in the 1,500 Meters at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships

The junior earns Second Team All-America honors.

Hope College's Connor Vachon made a valiant run at qualifying for the 1,500-meter men's final at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

The junior from Jenison, Michigan (Jenison HS) placed 13th in the nation on Thursday during the first day of the three-day meet in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Vachon, the MIAA champion in the event, earned Second Team All-American honors by posting a run of 3 minutes, 54.70 seconds. 

The top 12 runners advanced to the final on Saturday, May 25. 

Vincent Giumenti of the University of Mount Union (Ohio) took the last spot after crossing the finish line at 3:54.68.
