Women's Tennis Draws Rematch with Ohio Northern in NCAA Division III Tournament Opener

The Flying Dutch will play on Thursday, May 9, at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

The Hope College women's tennis team is going to Whitewater, Wisconsin, for the NCAA Division III Tournament this week.

The 33rd-ranked Flying Dutch will face No. 41 Ohio Northern University from the Ohio Athletic Conference in the first round on Thursday, May 9, at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at 11 a.m. Central.


The Hope-ONU winner advances to face No. 2 University of Chicago in the second round of Friday, May 10. Friday's winners in the six-team regional will play for a berth in the national quarterfinals on Saturday, May 11.

Hope (19-5) qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the 12th consecutive season and 18th overall after both claiming MIAA regular-season and tournament titles.

The Flying Dutch defeated Ohio Northern University, 8-1, on January 27 in Ada, Ohio. Hope leads the all-time series, 2-1.

Ohio Northern (18-5) is making its seventh NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. The Polar Bears finished second in the OAC regular-season standings, then defeated Otterbein University (Ohio), 5-2, in the championship match to earn the OAC's automatic berth.
