Peyton Benjamin and Samantha Vermeesch Selected to All-MIAA Softball Teams

A pair of Hope College seniors made the 2024 All-MIAA Softball Teams.

Centerfielder Peyton Benjamin and pitcher Samantha Vermeesch both received second-team accolades.

Benjamin (Eaton Rapids, Michigan / Eaton Rapids HS) ranked third in MIAA play in both runs scored with 16 and doubles with six.

The psychology major batted leadoff for the Flying Dutch and hit .277 in league play.

Eleven of Benjamin's school-record 31 stolen bases came against MIAA opponents. Benjamin broke DeeAnn Knoll's 1986 stolen-base record of 29.

This is Benjamin's second All-MIAA honor after first-team recognition in 2023.

Vermeesch (Ithaca, Michigan / Ithaca) made eight appearances in MIAA games this season. The senior righthander posted a 4-2 league record with a 1.77 ERA in 35.2 innings pitched.

The psychology major struck out 34 MIAA batters while walking only two.

This is Vermeesch's first All-MIAA award.
