Men's Golf Wins MIAA Jamboree in Kalamazoo, Moves into Overall Lead

The Hope College men's golf team seized command of the league lead after winning the MIAA Jamboree on Saturday in Kalamazoo.

Led by a pair of 1-over-par 72s at Kalamazoo Country Club, the Flying Dutchmen shot a winning score of 291 and finished two strokes ahead of runner-up Calvin University.

After 36 holes, Hope holds an eight-stroke lead over second-place Trine University and a 17-stroke lead over third-place Calvin. The MIAA champion will be determined after 108 holes of play this fall and spring.

Junior Liam Casey (Northville, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central HS) and sophomore Hank Roebuck (Ann Arbor, Michigan / Skyline) borh tied for second place individually, one stroke behind medalist Dylan Clark from Calvin.

Senior Will Webb (Lake Forest, Illinois / Lake Forest) carded a 73 and tied for seventh.

Junior Patrick Michael (Carmel, Indiana / Carmel) shot a 74 and tied for 10th.

Freshman Will Thomas (Portage, Michigan / Portage Central) chipped in a 75.

Hope returns to action on Monday, Sept. 30, at 1 p.m. when the Flying Dutchmen host the MIAA Jamboree at Wuskowhan Players Club.
