2025 Men's Indoor Track and Field Preview

The Hope College men's indoor track and field team is ready to build on its best season in program history.

The Flying Dutchmen, led by head coach Kevin Cole, bring back a deep and talented roster after finishing runner-up at the 2024 MIAA Indoor Championships. It was Hope's highest finish at the meet, surpassing a second-place tie in 2021. Six Flying Dutchmen earned All-MIAA accolades, a program-best as well.

The Flying Dutchmen are also buoyed by a men's cross country team that competed for the first time at nationals last fall since 1990 and posted the Great Lakes Region's best finish at 29th place. Hope also came within a point of an MIAA title share.

2025 ROSTER

The Flying Dutchmen's roster features 71 student-athletes, including 11 seniors, 23 juniors, 12 sophomores and 25 freshmen.

Five of Hope's All-MIAA Indoor Track and Field honorees in 2024 are back: seniors Lucas Guidone (Chicago, Illinois / Taft HS) and Connor Vachon, and juniors Carston Cole (Holland, Michigan / West Ottawa), Owen Harries (Lexington, S.C. / Lexington) and Wyatt Marsh (Grand Blanc, Michigan / Lake Fenton).

Vachon won the men's 1-mile run at the 2024 MIAA Indoor Championships and led a 1-2-3 Hope finish. The computer science and mathematics education major recorded a run of 4:18.01. Vachon also finished runner-up in the 800 meters at the conference meet.

Guidone, a biochemistry and molecular biology major, Cole, an exercise science major, Harries, a biology major, and Marsh, an accounting major, claimed an MIAA title in the men's distance medal relay by posting a first-place run of 11:20.05.

Junior thrower Brendyn Mroz (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Grandville) returns after setting a school record in the weight throw last season with a fourth-place toss of 15.30 meters (50 feet, 2 ½ inches) at the MIAA  Indoor Championships.

The exercise science and psychology major eclipsed the 2018 record of 15.04 meters (49-4 ½) set by Chase Gaca.

Three members of Hope's 2024 MIAA Indoor Championships second-place relay are back: senior Alex Daniels (Holland, Michigan / Holland), junior Liam Danitz (West Branch, Michigan / Ogemaw Heights), and junior Joshua Ennen (Zeeland, Michigan / Zeeland West).

Junior Ian Petruska (Fort Collins, Colorado) is also competing after a breakthrough cross country campaign last fall.

Petruska joined Steve Underwood (1981), Stu Scholl (1975) and Sheridan Shaffer (1961) as Hope Men's Cross Country All-Americans with a 19th-place finish on November 23 in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Senior Aidan Kyle (Weston, Connecticut / Weston) is a three-time MIAA Outdoor Javelin champ who competes in the sprints and triple jump during the indoor season.
