Junior Catherine Leahy Leads Women's Indoor Track and Field at GVSU's Bob Eubanks Open

Junior Catherine Leahy delivered the top performance for the Hope College women's indoor track and field team at the non-scoring Bob Eubanks Open at Grand Valley State University on Saturday.

Leahy (Elk Rapids, Michigan / Elk Rapids HS) finished second out of 18 runners in the 400 meters by clocking a non-converted time of 59.03 seconds.

The meet featured competitors from NCAA Division II and III and NAIA teams. Junior Frances Cozzens (Lyman, New Hampshire/Saint Johnsbury Academy) took seventh in the 400 with a run of 1:01.94.

Hope placed third in two events.

In the 200 meters, junior Sara Schermerhorn (Traverse City, Michigan / Traverse City West) recorded a third-place time of 24.95 seconds.

In the 4x400 relay, Schermerhorn anchored a run with Leahy, freshman Sofia Fisher (Lombard, Illinois/ Montini Catholic) and Cozzens that crossed the finish line at 4:02.88. It's Division III's 13th-fastest run this season.

In the 60 meters, Schermerhorn clocked a third-place time of 7.89 seconds.

Hope finished in the Top 10 in three more events.

In the high jump, senior Allison Schram (Fenton, Michigan / Hartland) tied for seventh after clearing the bar at 1.50 meters (4 feet, 11 inches).

In the shot put, senior Greta Robrahn (Zeeland, Michigan / Zeeland East) competed in the invite division and took eighth with a toss of 12.20 meters (40-0 ½).

In the triple jump, junior Meredith Kramer (Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan / Grosse Pointe South) finished 10th with a leap of 9.13 meters (29-11 ½).

Hope's next meet is Friday, Jan. 24, at 5 p.m. at the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame Classic hosted by Aquinas College.
