Men's Soccer Teammates Claim Academic All-District Accolades

Two Hope College men's soccer standouts earned Academic All-District® honors from the College Sports Communicators: goalkeeper Daniel Hesselbein and forward Seth Walters.

Hesselbein (Barrington, Illinois / Barrington Community HS) is a physical and health education major.

The senior started all 20 games this season for the MIAA co-champion Flying Dutchmen and set a career-best in goals-against average (0.65), save percentage (.824), saves (9), wins (14) and minutes played (1,805:25).

Hesselbein helped Hope win its first NCAA Division III Tournament game in 11 years by making three saves during a 2-0 first-round shutout of DePauw University (Indiana) on Nov. 15.

Hesselbein also received United Soccer Coaches All-Region Second Team and All-MIAA First Team honors.

Walters (St. Joseph, Michigan / St. Joseph) is an engineering major with a concentration in electrical engineering.

The junior recorded career-highs this season in goals (11) and points (24) over 19 games.

Walters also claimed United Soccer Coaches All-Region Second Team and All-MIAA First Team honors.
