Men's Track and Field Sets Five PRs at DePaul Indoor Invite

Hope College sophomore Kevin Barifagok clocked a personal-best sprint in the 60-meter hurdles to place runner-up Friday at the DePaul University Blue Demon Holiday Invite in Chicago.

At 8.55 seconds, Barifagok (Las Vegas, Nevada / Cristo Rey St. Viator) finished behind only the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Brandon Vlask, who ran 8.19, in the seven-runner final at the non-scoring track and field meet.

Sophomore Logan Lipka (Frankenmuth, Michigan / Frankenmuth) placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.71.

The Flying Dutchmen recorded additional personal-best efforts and two season-best times at DePaul's nine-team meet.

In the 200 meters, freshman Luke Bellino (Brighton, Michigan / Brighton) posted a runner-up finish in 22.23 seconds, the 28th-fastest time in NCAA Division III this season.

Junior Dylan Terpstra (Hudsonville, Michigan / Hudsonville) ran a personal-best 22.30 to place third. Senior Vamsee Vemana (Canton, Michigan / Plymouth) clocked a season-best 22.59 for fifth place. Senior Nolan Sanders (Midland, Michigan / H.H. Dow) recorded a season-best 22.88 to finish eighth. Lipka placed 13th with a personal-best 23.61.

In the 60-meter dash, Terpstra led Hope by finishing ninth with a personal-best 7.09. Sanders placed 10th with a season-best 7.14, while Vemana took 17th with a personal-best 7.21. Bellino finished 18th in 7.24.

The Flying Dutchmen placed third in the 4x400-meter relay as Barifagok, Terpstra, Bellino and sophomore Gavin Bush (Bloomfield Hills, Michigan / Birmingham Seaholm) combined for a time of 3:31.37.

Hope's next meet is Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Aurora University Grand Prix near Chicago.
